BLOAT-ware continuing to evolve...
Well, it's come to my attention recently that [the great all-powerful software company out NorthWest] is working on a new version of Windows (imagine that). Windows 7 is the latest, the successor to Vista. As the "welcome to.." page hyperlinked above says, key features of the new version will include "faster boot-up and shut-down times" ---yes, that'd be a significant improvement over Vista, which takes nearly TEN MINUTES to boot up on my Lenovo StinkPad Z61m. Even after then, the hard drive light is almost continuously lit during the whole time I'm using the computer. I've tried "Ready-Boost" when using 4 Gig. stick drives, but that doesn't seem to do much, except for creating another cool continuously-flashing light on my computer, har har! Another thang they mentioned on the above-referred-to page is that they want to "ensure that Windows 7 will run on *any* PC". WOW! Good: then I can dig out my old Gateway 2000 486DX2 again (I've missed that computer, even if it was as large as a small filin'-cabinet!). I guess tryin' to run Windows 7 on my old Zenith SuperSPORT 286 lap-top might be askin' too much though....Who knows.
